I listened off and on for years but I can’t even get through an episode without completely losing interest these days. It feels like this went from being an American history podcast with comedy, to a comedy podcast with a story. Old episodes had amazing historically poignant stories full of twists, details, and thought provoking perceptions caused by looking at things from a modern lens. But now I rarely find the topics interesting, the comedy is almost entirely made up of inside jokes or a weird, forced tension between the hosts. Plus the production quality has taken a dive from bad balancing to tinny reverb, and each episode is told with such monotone that it’s hard to skip back if I missed something due to that lack of auditory cues. On top of all that the hosts sound like their being held hostage. Dave sounds like he hates being there, hates Gareth, hates the audience, and hates the podcast, while Gareth sounds like he’s jonesing for a cigarette and will get one if he can just make Dave laugh. I really wish they’d return to a format of storyteller and funny guy, instead of both of them battling for comedic supremacy. Or at least let Gareth in on the story so that the riffs can at least relate back to the topic better.

The Dollop is such a great and unique show. I recommend it all the time. Everyone loves it Past Times is great but please - when you ask Garfie and the guest to guess, read the title of the first article. It’ll add a lot of fun

This podcast makes me laugh hard. So hard in fact that I’m nervous listening to it while driving, which is problematic, because I’m a trucker. It’s worth the risk, though.

This show neither needs nor wants you as fans so go away. Be fascist somewhere else. Update: in spite of what some fools post, progressives cannot be fascists. Perhaps totalitarians, but fascism is fundamentally extreme rightism. Also: Dave Anthony is a dude I’d do all but catch a bullet for, because I think he’s that degree of correct about 99 percent of the time. Gareth is always perfectly either flabbergasted or hilarious. Their magic cannot be bottled nor explained. It’s the best podcast of all time.

I have learned so much from this podcast. Foremost is this, the secret to bodacious citrus is burying the bodies of you victims in your orchard.

Don’t ever disagree with Dave about anything. I mildly disagreed with something he said (he expresses his opinions freely which I think is fine). Dave became very mean to me. Very. Then he blocked me on Twitter. I chose to then stop my Patreon support and stop listening.

I feel like I’ve learned more about US history from the Dollop than Dave has. How can you read about other worldviews so much and not reflect on your own even once in like ten years? If something comes too close to challenging modern progressive thought they smugly laugh it off as people in the past just being soooo stupid and wacky hahah! I’ve listened since the double digit eps but they just sound desperate lately.

From Gareth (Darth Gary) & Dave consistently being hilarious to being an informative and educational tool to combat our disinformation era over 600+ episodes - there’s really no other pod that comes close in consistency and scope. Doing a NY version called The Brolic to follow in its footsteps. Hopefully comics & ppl who care about social justice and education in other cities will too to further the Dollop movement

Love the podcast, it changed my life, but they’re not perfect. I’m really disappointed about how Dave talked about a possible SA in episode 621. Would have been better to not include the story entirely. It was a not so veiled dig at the episode’s subject/potential victim and didn’t bring anything to the episode

The audio could use some tweaking. Otherwise great show!

Dave and Gareth play off each other so well. I enjoy every episode and taking a ride on Gareth’s fantasy ride as he acts out scenarios.

Can you please normalize the volume between Dave and Gareth? On listening to the pistol Pete episode it’s basically impossible to hear Dave, while Gareth is very loud.

If you guys read these, I live in Spokane Washington- I need you to please do a Matt Shea update. He’s really off the rails!

Great podcast

I absolutely adore this podcast! I very rarely laugh out loud when watching/listening to something, but I find myself chuckling, giggling, or even outright guffawing during every episode. Plus I’m learning something! If you don’t like a healthy dose of very self-aware silliness in your history lesson this probably isn’t the podcast for you, but I wish my high school history classes had been more like this! Keep up the excellent work, gentlemen 💙

Dave, you are headed down the path of fascism. The people and government you support are the fascists. I’m not sure you’ll have the clarity to look back and acknowledge your choice of dictatorship. Just know you will be laughed at as we’re hauled away by the very people/forces you foolishly believed to be in the right. Episode 58 of the past times is SO funny! Highly recommended

This is one of my favorite podcasts, but I rarely listen anymore because the audio imbalance is so extreme it’s often unintelligible. I’m constantly riding the volume control, often unable to hear Dave even with volume at top and then getting blasted by Gareth. I know y’all have different speaking styles, but you’re on separate mics for god’s sake, adjust your levels!!! Why?!?!

I love this podcast but most of the time the sound levels are so terrible it’s impossible to listen to. The last Past Times ep Moshe was so quiet and the others were so loud I couldn’t listen without adjusting the volume up and down constantly and subsequently gave up and turned it off. PLEASE FIX IT.

Irrational hate speech. Apparently anything that isn’t extreme Left is evil. If you are not a member of a minority currently favored by Progressives, you are evil and not entitled to fairness or freedom. My main complaint is that humor is not as valued as hate and profanity.

Rating said clean but it’s the farthest thing from it. And in past times 48, Dave said a woman being shot was deserved because she was praying.

These guys make me laugh until I am in tears. Love their banter. The topics are fascinating, the jokes are hilarious. American (and sometimes Australian, or other places) history is INSANE. I’ve relied on this podcast to keep me laughing through some rough times. No notes, gentlemen!

Love the format, and the chemistry (sometimes caustic) between Dave and Gareth. I dragged my wife to a live show recently, and we both laughed until our faces hurt. That said: Please get some help with the audio/levels, as I’m constantly fiddling with the volume. Especially for the Past Times shows, which often go like: Dave - (whispers) Gareth - normal volume Guest - blowing out my headphones.

What a ride. And all only to learn that this is *not* the crazy one Dave teased recently. Poor Garfy…

I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard in my life. I had to pause it because I’m pregnant and laughing so hard was starting to hurt. I can’t recommend this enough. I have yet to find an episode that hasn’t made me laugh out loud.

I've given this podcast several chances. I am always sucked in by the fascinating topics, but I bolt because the "comedian" is one-note, unfnuny, and desperate. How many times can you listen to a comedian do his "meh, see" (a la Edward G Robinson) impression? He does it SEVERAL times EACH episode. The "comic" has only ONE impression voice, and it's this: "Meh, see." "Meh, see." "Meh, see." It's unbearable. I have trauma from it. But I guess I'm in the minority as it's one of the more popular podcasts aruond, and I begrudgingly give them that respect. But get a new voice, dude! Or a better more versatile comedian.

These bois cannot get any better. I need Gareth with a Russian accent though.

I really want to like this show but the audio levels are so bad I can’t listen. One moment it’s a whisper the next my ear drums are bleeding, even on the newest episodes.

D.A. is the first comedian to make jokes about their dad that were relatable and funny. The podcast is also not crap.

I listen to a LOT of podcasts. I used to have a job where I was outside working on my own for 8-12 hours a day, 6 days a week, and I did this for 4+ years. I spent my time listening to podcasts, including this one. This is, without question, the absolute best podcast I’ve ever listened to. You truly won’t regret listening to this one.
