In-depth, but very understandable. Kendall uses lots of audio examples and tells you what to listen for. I have learned more here than from any other audio engineering podcast. Audiophiles and serious music listeners will get a lot out of this too.

This podcast is super down to earth and transparent. I like the mix of some shorter episodes and longer, detailed episodes. The way Kendal explains things will encourage and inspire you to try new things/expand creativity, and inform you of numerous ways to do so. While getting deep into the technical side of music production, he always makes it a point to take the concepts and use them in your own way, or to even try something totally different from what he says! Which is cool honestly. “Do what sounds best to you” is kind of a cliche in the audio world and many audio shows I feel don’t go far enough in explaining ways to get more confident about what “sounds best to you.” Not the case here. This podcast is great in informing about the many different paths to get to that point of confidence and how to be faster about decisions. Love the detail this podcast gets into. Highly recommend!

Driving from Phoenix to Seattle and then Seattle to Phoenix this December, Kendal’s podcast was a welcome and informative diversion to driving boredom. I loved his candid and honest delivery of the information he’s learned and is willing to share with us all…and good advice it is. Thanks Kendal.  

This podcast rocks for audio people looking to learn a thing or two. Kendal does a great job explaining everything from basic fundamentals to pro tips with a comprehensive look at nearly all aspects of engineering and music production. Highly educational with the occasional opinion thrown in (he always gives a friendly disclaimer in those cases). Thank you for empowering audio nerds everywhere.

Kendal is a breath of fresh air in a crowded market of content related to the recording arts. You will learn more in an hour long podcast than you learned in your associates program for audio engineering. He’s truly a godsend. And he will take the time to respond if you email him! I guarantee it. The world owes him a great deal of thanks.

There’s an episode where Kendal does a drum mix in real time, and hearing how he got from point A to point B was so incredibly helpful for someone like me who’s just starting to get serious about recording. This pod is exactly what I’ve been looking for.

I’m so sick of podcasts that are people talking about their stories and interviewing ppl where they only talk 15% tech and the rest is just useless chatting to me. This is refreshingly information dense and interesting.

Love this show because he gives very explicit examples of why and how he does a certain move. A little different than other shows that focus on the more conceptual parts of mixing/recording. Not that the show doesnt deal with more high level concepts, but he does a good job of distilling them into examples

I've listened to a lot of audio podcasts and the host of this is by far my favorite because the topics he chooses are mostly applicable with a cheap setup and he is to the point.

I've been listening to a couple of different recording podcasts but only have one other that I have gotten into so far (#ASKJV). Even while in the middle of listening to the first episode of Recording Lounge that I downloaded I hit subscribe. Now I'm working my way through older podcasts by Kendal Osborne. There is so much great info throughout and even if you already know some of it, there is always going to be something you didn't think about. Between Kendal and Jordan Valeriote from Ask JV, I'm really considering monetizing my studio. For over a decade I've recorded local musicians by donation or for free because I had I good paying day job. Well that day job f**cked me over REALLY bad. Long story short, it led to merging with another awesome studio in an awesome space and now I want to pursue this a little more. If anything, this podcast is just getting me really excited about pursuing that. So a big thanks to Kendal!

Kendal has a way of sharing useful information that is unrivaled IMO. This podcast is actually about Recording and Mixing.

I find myself replaying these podcasts and really implementing the tips and techniques Kendal discusses here. Early episodes were fairly basic in nature so if you are a total newb start at episode 1, if you have some mixing experience under your belt start out at the latest episode and work backwards.

First, I’d just want to say THANK YOU to Mr. Osborne for all the awesome info he’s put out for FREE. I like many of the other popular recording technique podcasts, but this one outshines them all, IMO. A lot of the info in this podcast is stuff you can apply universally and doesn’t just apply to one piece of software or plugin bundles. It’s been a tremendous help for me, a relative noob at home recording. Easy 5 star rating.

This podcast has changed my life and educated me in ways that I likely never would've achieved without it. Educated and realistic host, Kendal has a great disposition, lots of wit, insistence on getting it right and a keen eye for calling BS on things -all necessary triats! I listen several times (always taking notes) to various episodse/topics and always get something new each time. Brilliant and a life changer for me.

I have enjoyed listening to this podcast show. Very informative and helpful on many levels. Please keep it up and do not fade away like so many other pods.

I'm a session musician who started doing some home recording in earnest a couple years ago. This podcast has offered me a wealth of valuable advice and examples of new techniques to try. I've enjoyed it so much that I shared it with the engineer and producer that I work with! Excellent job!

Kendal is like master Yoda. Also, he can explain things that you will actually understand. Great content that I would pay money for.

I've been recording as a hobby for probably 15 years (started with an old tascam four track cassette recorder) and I'm looking to get a bit deeper into it. This podcast is perfect for someone like me who has probably read about enough of the content in the podcast to be fairly familiar with what is being discussed but I'm still learning new things from every episode. I just discovered this podcast a couple weeks ago and my mixing has improved greatly in that span of time just by helping me break bad habits and try new approaches to things. It's also good for me as someone living in a small isolated town with zero friends who are interested in audio to have a way to just listen to audio talk and nerd out on all this wonderful stuff.

I think i am now on my 3rd pass through all the episodes of this podcast. This guy is super passionate about recording and has pushed and challenged me with each repeat episode I listen too. He talks on a level not common with others tackling the same subject. I learn more as I become more aquatinted with the gear and the lingo that he talks about. Im mainly a singer so this has helped me like crazy with guitarists and drummers. I absorb a lot and find myself kind of naturally applying the things I heard when I sit down to mix. Thanks!

My friend found the new Compression 101 podcast episode and sent me the link a few weeks ago. Kendal is a fantastic teacher an communicator. I have been hooked on the podcasts ever since. All of theare good and have either taught me something new or reminded me of some conceptsI forgot about. Kendal motivations are obviously true to what he says about wanting to share and create an engineering and mixing community. He has certainly put the effort into his shows and called out favors to get truly talented guest speakers as well. Please keep this going !!!!!

The best recording podcast I've heard! As so many other reviews have said, it's full of useful advice with examples that let you really understand what he's doing. This is how it's done- and without the chit-chat. Bravo!

I've listened to all the recording podcasts out there and this is hands down the best, most direct and most helpful. You will want to take notes because the whole thing from start to finish is excellent. I've been recording for about 10 years but I had huge gaps in my knowledge. This podcast is filling them in excellently. Kendal is extremely knowledgeable about engineering. If you want to step up your game as an engineer this is THE podcast to check out. - Also - Kendal is super helpful if you have any questions. He gave me some great tips about where to set up bass traps in my room. Just shocked and amazed at how awesome this is. Thank you Recording Lounge Podcast!!!

Kendall has a great presence. It's almost as if you're sitting down and having a conversation with him. I love his approach, especially for new people like me, where he doesn't make you feel bad for not knowing or understanding things. And he talks to all levels, not just new people. Great advice, great host, great podcast. Why haven't you subscribed already?

After listening through all of the 50 or so podcasts, I started to wondered why I hadn't looked around for something like this sooner. The show is chalk full of very helpful and relevant information and tips that have already made an impact on how I treat not just the recording phase, but the pre production, mixing and mastering phases as well! Just found this a week ago and am now catching up on the episodes. I write, record, produce and teach music for a living. This podcast is like hanging out with a good buddy who knows a bit more...great advice, clear instructions, and inspiring tone. Two thumbs up!

I love the podcast , no complaints there But I have to say after hearing all your discussions, I was really interested in your book that you've been writing for over 3 years which is supposed to have been due out at the end of August. It is now almost the end of september. Where is the book ? why even advertise it that it's available by the end of August, if it is not even out. I don't mean to sound harsh its just my eagerness to read it. My suggestion, as you asked about what to add to the book, or improve it , Just Publish it, or post it . Something.

It's always great to hang out with someone who has logged their ten thousand hours of recording and loves the subject and loves sharing it. I can learn all this while washing dishes and come away with a ton of useful information and feel like I've made a good pal while my home studio grows organically. Thanks Kendal. Keep it up!
