Trumpsters LIE
Trumpsters LIE and this is just another outlet that doesn't push against their LIES.

Great interviewer!
Just listened to the interview with Chip Roy, “rock ribbed conservative.” Tim Alberta asked pointed questions in a respectful way that elicited straight answers from Roy. This is exactly the kind of political discourse we need more of. Great job! I’m making Off Topic one of my regular go-to podcasts.

Right wing bias
I unsubscribed from this podcast after the Steve Scalise interview. The host let him blatantly lie with no push back at all. Scalise said the right was never violent, that it was a problem only on the left. He claimed that Democrats were paid to attack Trump supporters. He claimed the right never treated Obama disrespectfully and that Obama was never threatened. I Frankly, I was appalled. There was no follow up much less push back. This went so far beyond being a softball interview that I can no longer listen to it. This is not journalism.

Bring Back Edward Isaac Dovere
This new host lacks talent.

Lying journalist
Terrible podcast where guy just spouts bs. Don’t even waste the time downloading
James16201
Okay
Isaac asks some good questions, but he interrupts the guest too much and focuses on small details too much. I just listened to the Mazie Hirono episode, and he asked a question about whether she thought Brett Kavanaugh was lying in his hearing about 6 different times. Although I love the guests, I constantly cringe and feel physically uncomfortable when I listen to this because of the host.

Disappointing Work from an Unimpressive Journalist
Conceptually, a great idea for a podcast. In practice, very disappointing. It is hard to take Isaac Dovere seriously as a political journalist when almost everyone he interviews is obviously left-leaning and almost no one he interviews is obviously right-leaning. Bias.

Interviewer condescending
I gave this episode with John Dean a 3. He deserved a 5 where the interviewer was condescending to John. This man lived Watergate and I lived through it during high school. Mr. Dean presents from what he’s lived and experienced and compares to the nightmare of the White House and president now. Just because someone is older, doesn’t mean they don’t know what they are talking about. I have downloaded several episodes with people who have experienced life, are talking. If the interviewer is still rude, this podcast is going to be deleted for me with lower ratings.

Offbeat & interesting
Both interviews & interviewees are original & topics picked are insightful. Topics you haven’t expected but maybe thinking of wanting to ask these he selects!

Great content, odd style
Great topics and interviewees - appreciate the in-depth chat on these people/issues. Isaac’s questions are good ones, but his style is this weird banter that makes me question if he’s talking sh** to them or flirting with them. Some playful/fun chat is nice, but let the guests speak and don’t demean them!

Vocal Fry
Good interview with Durkan but the host has way too much vocal fry by the host.

Each of your shows are great..
And thanks for the intro to Delaney (did I get the name right?😀)

A smart podcast
Interviews with a nice cross section of leaders, entertainers, and thinkers. Conversational style with questions that generate thoughtful responses from guests rather than the banal fluff that we too often hear.

Almost 5 Stars
Isaac is a terrific interviewer, but when he starts finishing people sentences for them, it makes me crazy. And he does it a lot. Still— intelligent timely conversation. I recommend it.

Interruptions
When I saw that Jennifer Rubin was on the podcast I was anxious to hear what she had to say as I think she is one of the sharpest knives in the drawer. When the host kept verbally vomiting over her I turned it off. If there is one thing that disgusts me it’s people interrupting. We tune in to hear information from guests not wordy, interrupting hosts like Chris Matthews

fresh, smart, polite... Isaac is the best!
Thank you Isaac Dovere! Your demeanor is respectful, you are smart as a whip, and you do indeed get the best guests. Whenever I see a new "Off Message" podcast is available, my day brightens :)

I want to love it!
I really want to love this podcast. You have great guests and being backed up by Politico gives it legitimacy. My problem, the new host. Very condescending, interrupts too much, leads the convo away from interesting topics, etc.
C05eden
Good content - too much interrupting
I’m excited about the lineup for this podcast and the content is good. Some important issues get covered. But I just listened to the Beto O’Rourke episode and the host really interrupted him a lot, often at times when I was closely listening to what Beto was trying to say. Sometimes the interruptions were to provide background or context but other times they were just to make a side comment or joke that broke up the flow unnecessarily. Not sure if this is the host’s style or just how things played out on this episode.

Interesting Interview Subjects
This podcast started slow for me but the stream of interesting subjects being interviewed has really piqued my interest! Keep it up.

Excellent and Diverse
Isaac is a great interviewer. It seems like he does his homework, so he can discuss ideas and issues meaningfully with guests. Thanks for the interesting and informative show.

Don’t laugh so much
Excellent content, but host laughs rather mindlessly. Just a nervous habit, I’m sure, but it distracts from the seriousness of the content. Keep up the good work.

Tom Perez
I had to stop listening to this podcast about halfway through… Stop talking over your guest! If you just want a platform to express your own opinions don’t have any guests. It’s so rude and tiresome listening to the way you were treating Thom Perez during the interview. Bad form!

Irresponsible Trump coverage
I was taken aback by several long minutes of unabashed praise for Trump halfway through the Klepper interview. He’s the most famous person in history? Are you kidding? Have you heard of Albert Einstein, Julius Ceasar, Isaac Newton, Gandhi? In America alone, he falls well below figures like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, JFK, MLK... Trump will be forgotten within two generations. Seriously, that was an incredibly ignorant thing to say. But worse still is your position that he is extremely successful and therefore deserves our respect. Objectively and without question, he has succeeded by lying, cheating, and trampling over anyone and everyone that he can, showing barely a hint of moral character. Donald Trump is not the American success story. He is the embodiment of everything that is ugly and vile and reprehensible about human nature. This is exactly why Trump was elected. There are too many people like you who somehow lack the ability to stay grounded in some kind of moral frame, and that makes it possible for you to forgive Trump’s behavior and simply... follow. If you respect Trump for achieving success in the manner that he has, I have exactly zero respect for you. Unsubscribed.

Please come back Glenn Thrush
Isaac tries but man it’s hard to hear his voice and some of his questions make me cringe. At least he’s had good guests lately. That’s why he get 3 stars. Glenn gets 5 stars.

The interview with Preet
I listen to Preet's podcasts every time they come out. Thank you for helping to show Preet in a slightly different way. He is definitely more irascible and combative (in what I thought was a joking way) than I have heard him on his own podcast. Thanks for your very insightful interviews.

Unbearably Self Righteous
I could only take about 15 minutes of this smug drivel before I had to turn it off. Have these people ever stepped foot outside of their pretentious big-city lives of meaninglessness? The host is an entitled do-nothing with all the typically "correct" views for the University staff lounge or the Fortune 500 Company's HR department. Boring, bland, and unlistenable.
Mi General14
Horrible sound quality
It's hard to believe this is a professional podcast with the horrible sound quality. The host sounds like he's laying in bed while the guest is inevitably speaking at a normal volume which makes for constantly playing with the volume. Annoying, especially because they do have some very interesting guests.

Disappointing since Glenn Thrush left
When Thrush was the interviewer, this podcast was fantastic. He had an unbelievable ability to connect with his guests and humanize them, no matter who they were. The new interviewer does not have that skill and it shows. This podcast, once a truly unique listen, has become just like any other political podcast. Really a shame, I used to love it.

Not worth the subscription
I was expecting a fair and balanced pod cast but it's mostly propaganda. The host doesn't hasn't ask the hard questions you will want in a podcast. Unsubscribing

Glenn Thrush is Amazing!
These are fascinating, meaty, incisive interviews that explore the core beliefs of political (+ a handful of journo) superstars from Roger Stone to David Brock. I started listening to this podcast after the election, and Glenn Thrush basically restored my faith in journalism. He humanizes and connects to every single guest on his show, and the last episode about his parents is something I still think about-- Glenn is glib, insightful, gracious, and heartfelt (not in a lame way) and I really hope he continues some kind of podcast in the future, because I miss his voice.

Thrush is Great
I wonder what the future holds for this one with Glenn going to NYT.

The Best
Probing, articulate interviewer of true bts power players. Thrush doesn't take himself too seriously and he gets his guests to meet him there and be real. Current favorite.

Growing on me
I knew nothing of Glenn thrush only a few months ago, but then somehow heard the Obama interview. That one didn't impress me very much, but now the podcast was on my radar. And the title certainly intrigued me. Thrush usually starts off in a self referential manner, always highlighting his deep relationships with the interviewees. That can be a little annoying, but forgivable for someone who traffics in "deep relationships" Beyond that, my early impressions were that thrush traffics exactly in the gossip, rumors, and innuendo, that Bernie Sanders bemoaned so correctly during the primaries. His interviews with Clinton staffers are devoid of the really tough questions related to whether Clinton's flaws as a candidate were what proved fatal. He appears too chummy, and therefore unlikely to really get to the bottom of things. But then there were some redeeming podcasts. He gave Jill Stein the time and space she needs to really explain her positions and purpose. He didn't belabor the "Nader question" which preoccupied all other outlets. If you listen really carefully to the recent Grover Norquist interview, you hear the internal inconsistencies in the philosophy without thrush pinning him down. Overall, i'd like to hear a lot more on policy/political principals and less on gossip, innuendo, etc, but I'm listening regularly now, so I have to give it a 4.

Sucking on candy
Sounds like he is constantly sucking on hard candy when he speaks. Not bad. I run it through an auto dictation program and play it back in the simulated voice of my choosing.

Well produced, poorly researched
What a shame. This has great production value. It also has interesting perspectives. Unfortunately, the contributors cite probable false statistics and multiple fake news sources. When honest dissent is needed, this podcast fails to deliver.

Long focused interviews
Wide ranging on many issues with a single guest. Very informative.

Great Conversations
I appreciate the frank and pragmatic discussion of politics that happens on this show. Glenn has a talent in the art of the long-form interview that is matched only by Howard Stern. He is able to pull things from his guests that no other journalist is capable of. Truly one of the greats.

fascinating interviews of the major players
Glenn Thrush interviews major figures in politics. Fascinating listening.

Hit or miss but usually hit
The off-message podcast is hit-or-miss with definitely more hits than misses. For example his interviews with Tony Blair, Jeff Roe and Jeff Weaver were fantastic. Wasn't a fan of the interviews with Neera Tanden as well as with Michael Che & Colin Jost. Should definitely check it out

This week's episode was hysterical!
Love this podcast, but this week's episode on SNL actors's take on Trump and Clinton was great! More like this! A different take on this election that was husterical!
Karlie4675
worth a listen
I really like the indepth nature of these interviews, and the wide range of guests. Glenn has acknowledged that he needs to interview more female guests, but I was extremely unimpressed that the 2 women he selected in recent episodes (following that comment) were Anne Coulter and Jill Stein: two people on the absolute fringes of electoral politics, both simplistic and occasionally highly offensive in their own unique ways. I would also just reinforce what others have obviously said, because Glenn has mentioned it: don't discuss what you don't like about Hillary Clinton's voice, unless you are going to discuss the same aspects of her opponents' delivery. Women are telling you it's offensive and unfair, and you should believe them. Loved the interview with Jen Palmieri, and the Tony Blair one was excellent.

Top-notch reporting & insightful interviews
Really a big fan of Glenn (despite the Dick Tracy hat). He's a reporter with integrity, genuine curiosity, and a knack of steering the conversation into insightful domains. Thank you I've really enjoyed these.

Great, Casual Conversational Style
Big fan of this podcast. I enjoy the conversational tone of it. It almost seems as if Glenn and his guests are just hanging out at a bar having a chat. I couldn't be more of a liberal, but I really enjoy the conversations with folks from all stripes. The conversation with Ted Cruz was just a wonderful and inside look into how campaigns are run. It was so fascinating to just listen to Cruz and Thrush just talk shop. To any other political junkies out there, I'd highly recommend this one. The only issue I have with the podcast is that it doesn't come out more. It's so good that I wish there was a new one every day!

Sometimes too easy on interviewees
Thought the Jill Stein interview was interesting, but Thrush missed asking Stein the obvious about supreme court justice choices, when Stein claimed no real difference between Trump and Clinton. Really?

Without compare!
Nobody presents a more honest take on the race and the candidates than Glen Thursh. Glen is the ultimate rationalist in that he admits his own biases, while challenging those of others - he rarely keeps the gloves on, never panders, and he never allienates hs guests....you will learn something unexpected any time you listen to this podcast.

Ann Coulter
First, thanks to Glenn for talking to Coulter. Not sure I would have bothered if anyone else was asking the questions. Having said that, I am a loyal listener but this one was a disappoinment. After opening with a promise to fact check on the spot, he didn't do it consistently. Does Coulter get to dismiss real data on the number of illegal immigrants with "they've been saying that for years". Sorry, not good enough. And did I hear her correctly that in fact, no one can really know how many illegal immigrants commit crimes because the data is no good? Huh? So where does she get her figures? Responding consistently with "it's in my book" is a cop out. She is welcome to make her case, but when she can't, no bluster allowed, don't let her keep going or change the subject. One final one. Why do intelligent people like Coulter attribute genius to Trump moves after the fact? There is no strategy. There is just lowest common denominator discourse (rant?), which she seems to relish. Poor us.

Completely Bias
If he thinks its so important to be a fact checker -- why doesn't he think it's equally important not to be so bias? Totally pro Hiliary.

Great host, great interviews
Read the title. Glenn Thrush is great and he gets great guests.

Surprisingly engaging, decent & yet substantive
One of the many qualities I appreciate about this show is how Glenn demonstrates basic decency and good will, even while conducting a substantive long form interview. Some of this is manifest by the banter about favorite bands, someone’s family history, or a guest’s surprising history as a minor league baseball umpire. It’s clear that Glenn is first relating to his guests as _people_, not just as partisans, pundits or professional politicians. I think that encourages the guests to be more genuine, and encourages me to lower my own ideological filter a bit and be more open to the ideas and motivations of folks from the other side of the aisle.
