Look inside an artist’s mind
Frank Turner is a downright brilliant songwriter. If you found this podcast you are undoubtedly a fan, so I know I’m preaching to the choir. I had no idea “No Man’s Land” was a concept album and getting such in depth insight into each song is a completely unprecedented look into the mind of an artist. Love Frank, love the album, love this podcast. ENJOY!

Great companion to the album and by itself
Frank is an amazing artist. My wife and I walked down the isle to his song “The Way I Tend to Be” from an earlier album. This podcast is an an entertaining history podcast that adds depth to your appreciation of his new album but is also worth listening to even if you don’t have the album (which I’m betting you’ll buy after a couple episodes of this podcast). Can’t recommend enough for anyone interested in Frank, history, or women who don’t get the attention they should in history.

Harmony of history, music, and strong female protagonists
Love Frank Turner and love hearing the stories behind these songs. He’s done an excellent job of getting interesting experts and there is something powerful to him playing the songs on location for the “ghosts” of the source material. Mission accomplished: appreciate the songs more and the stories of the women behind them.

Fantastic
I have always loved Frank Turner’s music. I wasn’t so quick to jump into this album as I had been the others. But after listening to the history and stories behind the women in these songs, I can’t stop listening to the album. Great idea to give each song some context. Brilliantly done.

I wanted this podcast to go on much longer! How wonderful to not only have these divine songs and lyrics in the world, but to also hear their creator walk us through these history lessons?!

Awesome Podcast
I loved the album before listening to the podcast but decided I really needed to know the story behind the songs. Now that I know the stories behind the songs I love the album even more! It was so interesting learning about all the women that Frank Turner wrote about. I had never heard of most of these women and am so glad Frank brought them back to life in his songwriting!

Wow
Honestly I knew a little about Frank Turner and liked some of his music but after this podcast, I am even more of a fan! He does a great job of sharing stories about these historical women (as well as his mum) and then also showcasing women on the podcast who are amazing in their own right. Well worth a listen!

As a big Frank fan I thought this podcast complimented his new album very well. It’s factual with a nice balance of historical facts as well as motivation and thoughts behind the process of the songs. 10/10 would recommend

If you enjoy Franks music this podcast is for you!
This podcast explores Frank’s creative process and gives a glimpse into his musical genius. As someone who has never been a history buff I can say that Frank finds a way to tell these women’s stories that will keep you interested the whole time. You will not be disappointed!

Mr. Turner’s works age like a fine wine.
This is yet another phenomenal display of the depths of Frank Turner. With the album alone bringing light to these important historical women, the very tastefully done podcast gives a beautiful and more in-depth background to each figure introduced on the album. It’s amazing to have this record and podcast to be able to show to my three daughters.

I am enjoying this podcast by Frank Turner
My daughter introduced me to Frank Turner's music and now I have quite a bit in my playlists. When this podcast and upcoming album was announced, my daughter let me know that it was available. I look forward each week to learning about a woman in history that I may or may not have much information about. Each podcast is well researched and documented, and, in my opinion, makes learning about history enjoyable and fun. I can't wait to hear all of the podcasts and add the album to my playlist.

So good!
I’ve been a big Frank Turner fan for years and a big history nerd for even longer. So just imagine my excitement when I found out my favorite artist was diving into the history of so many amazing people? I love the concept of this album, I think this podcast is basically brilliant, and I hope he continues with this podcast, or maybe another history-related topic in the future. Well done, Frank!

Amazing!
I know this is the first podcast you’ve done, but it’s excellent! It reminds me a bit of the concept behind the Foo Fighters’ Sonic Highways album and accompanying HBO series. I’d love to hear podcasts discussing the inspirations behind other songs you’ve written.

A Perfect Mix of History and Frank’s Music
A great podcast that does an excellent job telling the stories of women who have otherwise been lost to history. The fact that every episode ends with a song by Frank is just icing on the cake.

A real storyteller!
All of Frank’s songs tell a story, but with No Man’s Land we get great stories of women in history. This podcast gives depth and breadth to these stories.

No Man’s Land: Stories That Sing
I discovered Frank’s music only a couple of years ago. Frank Turner is a self-described history nerd who is also a fine singer/songwriter. In these collection of songs he has melded his love of history and music to tell the stories of little-known women from days gone by. Perhaps I’m biased because I’m a fan of Frank’s music, but I wholeheartedly recommend this podcast and the album, No Man’s Land. (Also, check out his other albums!)

This podcast is so interesting! Yeah love the history of these unknown figures! I want to dig up more information now! Thanks Frank for doing this project! Very, very cool :-)

Love the History
While the music is great -- it is the background that is special here. Frank's interest in history translates into some great stories that lend for artistic license. If you are here for the full truth, it isn't here because it can't be known. That is where the scraps that can be known plus the legends and gossip that has lasted through the ages get woven into the story and the song. BTW when at the exhibit at NY's Met called "Play it Loud" check out the 1961 white Les Paul Custom (SG) serial number 3749, Rosetta had one just like it. Awesome!

Great storytelling from an enthusiast
I’ve always been a fan of Frank’s references to history in his songs such as “Journey of the Magi”. To see him dive deeper, share his journey, and get a little out of his depth makes me think a little more deeply about the past and present. That’s what I look for in a podcast, and I’m thrilled that it comes from someone who has shaped my own musical taste and songwriting style. Thanks Frank!

Great podcast! Frank Turner takes his natural charm and sense of curiosity and, very naturally, moves into podcasting.

Seriously love this
Not gonna lie I almost cried listening to the Death of Dora Hand. It was such a beautiful retelling of an unknown and sad story. I saw it all play out like a movie in my head. Can’t wait for more(:

The podcast is a true companion piece
I've been a fan of Frank Turner's for over a decade now. Whenever he announces a new project, I always get excited. When I found out there will be a podcast that goes in depth about each woman and their life for whom a song was written about, I thought this was a brilliant idea. I make it a priority to listen to each episode before I listen to the song. It truly enrichens the whole experience and makes you appreciate what Frank is doing all the more. I truly can't recommend this podcast enough.

A meaningful podcast
Frank is an extraordinary songwriter when he uses his own life experiences and has drawn upon that foundation to write about important women and their places in a forgotten history. His take on these women is meaningful and the exploration he takes in this podcast to further his knowledge is memorable. Thank you Frank for this work and restoring these women to their rightful places in history.

Amazing
Please tell me how one person can be both so incredibly smart and so incredibly talented?!? To the sweet young girl behind me at Folk at the Oak that told me about this podcast, I can’t thank you enough. I hope all your dreams come true.

I love it!
I know of Frank Turner as a punk rocker! Then some cool songs came to my ears, that I can understand! I love his music and story telling is defiantly his forte! I love the history! Mahalo!

Great so far!
I love the premise and how genuinely interested and passionate Frank Turner is about the history and roles of these women. So far he has sat down to talk with two female historians; it’s nice that there hasn’t been any mansplaining about these women and their stories. I have also picked up books to add to my summer reading list from this podcast! Love it so far

Wonderful, as always.
Will Frank ever release something I don’t like? Doubtful. This is on par with everything else I love.

Brilliant and Entertaining!
So stoked to have a new venue in which to enjoy the amazing work of Frank Turner, a man who’s music and live shows I’ve been enjoying for the past 10 years. His new podcast is focused on an extremely worthwhile topic, shedding light on lesser known women in music. The show is educational, interesting, easy to listen to and extraordinarily entertaining. Well done, Frank!

Great stuff, Frank
Already a big fan of Frank’s music, and love history so it’s a great combo. Love learning about historical women that are kept out of most history books, and learning new things in general is excellent. Great stuff. Looking forward to the rest of the podcast, album and tour! See ya in AZ, Frank!

Love Frank and his thirst for knowledge
This is a great podcast to accompany the new album. Love the stories being told and the glory being given to these women. You can tell Frank genuinely cares for these stories and is making sure the legacies of these women are being given the spotlight they deserve.

Historian, Songwriter, Frank Turner tells a story like no one else!
Enjoy learning music history from one of the most talented singer, songwriters of our generation! Frank’s passion for music history and his commitment to finding the soul behind the song is admirable and inspiring.

To fast
Love Frank, love the subject, but I kinda wish Frank didn’t talk so fast. Sounds like it’s sped up for time but it’s not.

Humor, reverence and wit
Typical Frank Turner. So good- thoughtful delivery and multiple voices. I loved two song writers’ take on the same subject. I loved how each song was played in full. He said he’d never do a concept album... MOAR!!!
