Best podcast on forced migration
This podcast is fabulously full of information and critical analysis of our global framework of responsibilities, human rights, and the factors that sustain ongoing mass atrocities in our world today. I learn something incredible every single time I listen. I am so thankful for both the hosts insights and personal stories that intersect these topics. The way they contrast on-the-ground experience with the historical or present political situation helps the listener better understand and think about the global refugee context we are encountered with today. THANK YOU.

Great podcast for understanding the humanitarian sector.

Weird tone to this thing
It’s immediately weird and jarring to listen to this. It’s a pretty somber issue. The theme music is so happy and upbeat. And the hosts sound like comedians (they don’t make jokes really but their attitude and way of speaking and very unserious). It’s unsettling.

A wonderful podcast with great coverage
My favorite podcast. So eye opening and thorough. The guests always have unique perspectives on key and crucial issues the world faces today in a manner that is easy to follow and break down.

Important voices, room for more!
Great podcast grappling with solutions to some of the biggest and scariest situations people will ever find themselves in. Clear and well produced, the topics are always timely and well researched. The hosts are smart and thoughtful and despite their extensive experience in the field and in academia they seem open-minded and curious. I’m learning a lot and appreciate the range of guests, I guess the IRC has wonderful access. Only suggestion to make it a stronger show - I would love to hear more from people actually currently displaced, what is and isn’t working for them? ‘Nothing about us without us’ could be a useful principle to incorporate a little more into this important show, in any case I’ll continue to listen and share.

An intriguing insider’s view to humanitarian response that is not traditionally visible to public
The episodes started out strong but keep getting better and better. The episodes with David Halpern on behavioral science and Jeremy Konyndyk on the aid business model were especially fascinating. Looking forward to interviews with non-OECD experts for more diverse voices!

Great translation of complex issues
I really enjoy this podcast, not only because of the amazing guests they bring on, but also because of their ability to translate really complex issues and policies for individuals who may not be well-versed in the humanitarian/international development field.

Fascinating investigation on helping refugees
This podcast offers a series of engaging discussions with leaders in philanthropy and service to refugees and similarly challenging populations worldwide. The hosts do a great job of pushing the guests to open up about the most difficult decisions they face in prioritizing who they serve and how, which has applications to other nonprofit decisionmaking as well. I strongly recommend it to anyone with an interest in nonprofits tackling the biggest challenges in our world today.

Hel-ee-na
I came to this podcast because of a recommendation on Today Explained based on the interview with the mayor of Helena. The mayor seems like an incredible person, however the interviewers are terrible. From the get go they pronounce Helena (correctly pronounced like the name Helen-ah) Hel-ee-na. As a Montanan this was like nails on a chalkboard. The interviewee very tactfully corrected them by using the name of his city several times in the answer to their first question, but they continue to pronounce it wrong for the rest of the interview and every time they do the mayor slips the name of his city into to answer to the question. Very frustrating that they did not do their research before the interview or at the very least be aware enough to pick up on correct pronunciation when it was used. As it is, it comes across as patronizing and arrogant, as if they know how the city’s name should be pronounced better then that city’s mayor.

An important, timely and thoughtful podcast
DISPLACED has so far proven to be an important resource for those seeking to understand the global refugee crisis, it’s evolution, and some potential solutions or remedies. The perspectives included include some of the most brilliant living minds currently grappling with these issues.

Great podcast
Great podcast, really good mix of targeted expert opinions with helpful explanations of the underlying issues and ways to think about them. So far, the episodes discuss the policy environment around humanitarian action rather than the mechanics of direct action, which makes it relevant to a broad group of listeners.

Solid Background
Taught me a lot, especially on Syria. No great solutions but helped me contextualize the info I have with the background/dynamics at play.

Thoughtful commentary and great questions
I have been looking for a podcast like this for a long time and I am so excited to find one that is well produced and run by people who really know what they are talking about. This podcast is wonderful for people who already have a moderately good grasp on world politics, events and history, but if you are new to this world don’t feel intimidated! The first show gave me so many new things to look up and ideas to consider. I can’t wait to see what the next shows have to offer.
