So boring
Takes an interesting story and make it boring…

Thanks
You made me cry with Mr. Apology. Not in a bad way, but a human way.

Impactful
The episodes on this podcast are impactful. Longer after I listen to Criminal, I’m still thinking about something from one of the episodes. Phoebe digs a deeper into the personal aspects of a story and I find myself talking with other listeners about my favorite episodes, even two or three years later. None of the other podcasts I listen to give me something to think about like Criminal does.

What's with the accent?!
Good content, writing & delivery but why repeat "dot calm" multiple times during each show??!! It's "dot com", which rhymes with bomb, Tom and aplomb. Your affectation undermines your entire delivery, please say it right

Just Perfect
I’ve been a fan and avid listener for years. If you’re a parent, listen to the episode 911 from February 2nd, 2024. It’s 7am on a Saturday and I’m crying happy heart mom tears. Every week the episodes are insightful, thought provoking, and explore crimes and injustices in a new and thoughtful way…. Far from the played out retellings that have become so en vogue over the last few years. Well done, Criminal team. “dot colm”

Best Podcast Ever
Literally! I look forward to listening every week. Sometimes I try to wait until later in the day to enjoy the story but I’m usually not successful. 😃 Thank you!

Gotten a little too woke
I’m all for social justice but sometimes I need to get away from it for JUST FIVE MINUTES. That’s when I listen to true crime. Now I can’t get away from it on what used to be the classiest of true crime podcasts. Sorry Pheobs, when I want social justice I’ll to NPR. Ps. Was really shocked to hear how Phoebe talks to her long time producer!

Adds
Since the vox takeover the adds have become so insanely heinous. V depressing Edit: slightly less bad now 🙏🏻

Lots of chit chat not related to story
Recent episodes have a lot of chit chat not related to the story. I was disappointed by joining criminal plus. Some podcasts I’d recommend that don’t have chatter are crime junkies and dateline.

I love this podcast
I’m going to be sad when I’ve listened to all the episodes and there are none left.

I’m so happy that I stumbled upon this show. Like all who listen I love Phoebe’s voice. I listen to her to fall asleep. Her softness and cadence are so comforting. The stories are so interesting and if I set the timer I can catch up the next day. I signed up for the contract because I can’t get enough. Worry the price. 💕💕💕💕💕

Started off good
Started off amazing. The episode about the girl who printed money with her boyfriend is still one of my favorite episodes of any podcast, ever. But, then it just dissolved into a social justice warrior mess like every other left leaning podcast. One star for ruining something I looked forward to weekly.

Reposting old episodes is confusing
longtime criminal listener for years!! Love Phoebe’s voice and storytelling. Always intriguing stories that keep your interest. However since they’ve started reposting old episodes I get excited only to realize I’ve already listened. Wish this would be made more clear like “FROM ARCHIVES” in the episode name or be posted somewhere else ?

Always an interesting story and fascinating deep dives
Sometimes I prejudge an episode thinking the topic didn’t spark my interest and when I listen they always exceed my expectations and take me on a fascinating trip into hidden corners of the world and untold stories.

Best of its kind
Full of humanity and empathy, instead of the thrill-seeking entertainment that’s characteristic of so many true crime shows. Phoebe and her team understand crimes are not just about whodunnit. There are real people involved. Every tale, no matter the perspective, treats all parties with sincerity and respect. They remind us that as fellow human beings who’re also of foibles and vulnerabilities, we shouldn’t quick to judge other’s actions and assign moral values without understanding their stories. As a mysteries and detective story lover, I truly appreciate real world crimes aren’t treated as games like the fiction here.

This should be not worth money
I have been listening to this for a little while now and liked it at first but have been getting more and more annoyed by Phoebes voice and can’t stand it anymore. She has changed her voice from elegant to a OF voice. I just can’t listen to the podcast anymore

You’re not fooling anyone
Hey Phoebe. You do this random, not from the states thing when you say “dot com”. Please stop. You’re from America and quite frankly you sound like an idiot. Look up your name on Reddit. You’ll see.

I love to listen to her story telling!

I’m over this.
This used to be one of my favorite podcasts. But now it appears to be subscription only. I’m done.

What has happened to the Criminal podcast?
I have been listening to this podcast from the very beginning, and was so happy to have discovered it. The content was unique, engaging, and insightful. Over the years, it has evolved into a podcast about very obscure and historical material, that has lost my interest. One must listen to nearly the entire episode before any criminal element is even introduced. The earlier episodes seemed truer to the genre, but lately, this feels like listening to an esoteric history lesson.

Smooth Velvet Voice!
What an elegant and eloquent host. English is my second language and Phoebe is my grammar role model! And zero vocal fry! In a sea of Kardashian sounding-air heads, it’s refreshing to hear a voice worthy of its listeners.

Voice Ruins It
Love the stories but just can’t tolerate the hosts voice so won’t continue listening.
MarBee39
Why
I have a love hate relationship with the host. A great voice for podcasting but randomly turns into this over-acting phone sex voice.. no one says dot com like that either . Your regular voice is so great without forcing all that extra bedroom voice stuff.

Love, but…
I’ve listened to Criminal since it’s inception and I loyally love it. I just came here to say that Toby Dorr has to be one of the dumbest and most delusional criminal ever. A prisoner used her to smuggle himself out of prison. She was a means to an end and to this day, she still thinks that John Manard actually cared about her?

It’s not a spectacle!
A crime show that’s not a spectacle! Phoebe leans into the mystery around criminal behavior, both modern and historical. The stories always feel respectful towards those involved. I look forward to the new episode every week.
Pink Duck Princess
Creature Comforts
I can listen to her voice and these shows as a lullaby….I wonder if anyone else in the world listens to true crime while falling asleep. I do. Oh man the dreams.

Must subscribe to get most content
Love phoebe but annoyed that most of content requires you to subscribe:/ I am willing to listen to adverts; best content seems to be for subscribers. Will unfollow asap!

Used to be
Used to be a good podcast. They clearly ran out of material and now it’s just a very “wokey” style show with a very….woke-ish……host. Unsubscribe.

Something to consider
Leaving five stars because I love the podcast and Phoebe. I’d like to suggest maybe putting a trigger warning on the Connie Converse episode and other episodes with similar subject matter. I’ve been a bit depressed lately, and for whatever reason the story of Connie Converse has been haunting me in a pretty scary and uncomfortable way since I listened to it the other day.
kjane_89
I mostly listen for Phoebe
I love the narrating voice it’s so relaxing. The stories are ok too. Phoebe’s way with words just hypnotizes me. Kind of risky when I’m driving I tend to go over the center of the road.

My new favorite podcast! Fascinating, intelligent and in-depth.
My new favorite podcast! Interesting stories, new and historic. Intelligent, fascinating, and with the most in depth information on even the most well known topics. The Nelly Bly story had not only the history of Blackwell’s Island, but a tour of it today. All aspects of the story covered here.

Very disappointed
I used to binge your show until I heard this episode. The one where you praised this crazy lady for helping a convicted, convicts escape prison, because her husband was a big meanie. Unbelievable. There was no condemnation for her actions, just understanding because her husband was a meanie. Ridiculous. Women today have lost their mind. I think it’s all of you now.

Great Show But Recently Disappointed
Criminal is one (if not THE) best crime related podcasts out there. Phobe is an absolute gem and reports fun, interesting, and vastly different stories that keeps you engaged the whole time. A bit disappointed recently that Criminal made a huge announcement saying this year they would be releasing 4 new episodes each month, but it appears that is only available through the fan club and we have only been getting old content Re-released. Wish this was different and would be fixed. Or at least, new material would also be available for people outside of the fan club as well. I want to keep listening, but would appreciate new content I don’t have to pay for right now..

True crime + this American life
I first heard Phoebe on My Favorite Murder and since starting listening, I am always entertained! It strikes me as a great balance of crime/thrill and every day stories. Just excellent.

Phoebe is just plain rude
Wow, after having listened to a few Bonus episodes, I’ve found that Phoebe is quite a know-it-all and doesn’t treat her colleagues kindly. These episodes have really changed my perception of her and of who actually does all the background work for this podcast.
Rhpos
Bonus episode each week.
And repeat episodes unless you buck up.

I’m so upset.
I wish I could have what I paid for my meeting greet tickets at that I started at eight but it was way before eight. The show actually started at eight. I’m so upset. It’s so sad.

This is one of my favorite podcasts. I look forward to every release. The stories are compelling, well-edited, and the subjects are treated with dignity.

Love and light
All cop horses are okay I guess. I don't love the humanizing stories about police and especially hate the police after the cowboy bob story. Let people follow their dreams even if it means taking some money from a bank for a while.

Not what it used to be
I’ve listened to Criminal sine it began (over a decade ago!) and the quality has definitely dipped since it was acquired by Vox. Really disappointing.

Good
It’s interesting and you can know all the details of the podcast.

Bonus Episode: The Liberal Arts Club
I am loving the banter between the two of you!! It’s almost as entertaining as the actual episode content. 💜💜

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS POD!
I love listening to true crime while working out. But sometimes, too many episodes of crime can bring a heavy dark cloud down on your day. This podcast has everything in one channel. Incredible stories about victims, interesting people we don’t know did things that changed laws and methods in our government, and of course, some of the juiciest crime stories that keep you on the edge of your… run? (For me) The latest episode “911” was a fresh of “fresh air”. I love the topic of the conversation and most importantly the guest interviewed. Brave mother and daughter duo!
