What a fascinating podcast! Well researched, compelling and simple narrative. Nothing pretentious here, just great work.

Pike River disaster-excellent series
Mr. Brady’s review of the Pike River disaster is very well done. Excellent breakdown of what happened in the lead-up to the tragic event, and a great articulation of the key lessons in terms of organizational behaviors and normalization of risk. Presented with sensitivity, compassion and humility.

Wonderful all around
Just recently discovered and poured through all 36 episodes. As a civil engineer this is such a great podcast and even resource to imprint on engineers the significance they can have on the general public, either from action or worse, inaction.

One of the best
One of the best podcasts I’ve ever listened to, makes it hard to believe it’s free! Everything is well researched and thoughtfully explained even to someone not in the industry. The episodes on the Pike River mine were as fascinating as they were tragic. Great storytelling right alongside the great technical analysis.

My absolute favorite podcast
Fascinating material. Captivating storytelling. Cannot recommend this podcast highly enough. The Apollo 13 series is especially amazing.

I’d listen to a new episode every day...
... but I’m glad there aren’t enough catastrophic failures to produce that many episodes. This is one of my absolute favorite podcasts. They do an excellent job breaking down complicated engineering concepts into digestible audio narratives with the right balance of detail and clarity.

A genuine treasure...
The individual episodes are excellent and range from geeky to sweeping. The Apollo XIII series is amazing and worthy of any accolades and awards. I know the story, I’ve read the books, and the way that the story is told here gave me new insights, pulled me along with perfect tension and engagement, and left me with tears of joy in my eyes. This is on par with Dan Carlin’s Hardcore history. Subscribe. Listen. Enjoy.

Awesome study of human factors
I love hearing about the human factors that cause so many of these events. Not only does it make me feel human but it helps to learn how seemingly small choices can snowball. I am left wondering if the drain tube in Oxygen tank 2 of Apollo 13, alone should have been clause to scrap that tank before the mission ever left the ground, because I wonder if it had the potential to clog or block the valve. And I hope the upcoming series involves my favorite Polar explorer.

Riveting, insightful, motivating
Wow....I can’t stop listening. The Brady Heywood podcast is exceptional in delving into the details of why things have failed and what we can be better about. The Apollo series in particular is INSANELY good and helped me understand exactly what happened, why it happened, and how people overcame the problems. This podcast is a must listen.

Very well put together
I am a big fan of technical stories, blogs and podcasts and this is one of the best I have ever come across. A great balance between the raw detail and explanation for us average joes. Really well done. I look forward to seeing where the series takes us. Thanks for your efforts. And by the way... what a clever way to showcase a firm.

In a word: Outstanding
This might be the most absorbing and enjoyable podcast series we’ve yet had in the medium. Moving and compelling with great audio effects. Sets the standard. You won’t want to leave your car and go to the office. I only hope there are more to come.

Excellent
I’m a liberal arts person with nowhere near the level of scientific training Sean has and I can’t get enough of this engineering podcast regardless. Fascinating analysis and insight into design and human factors. A pleasure to listen to.

Outstanding
Séan could read the Yellow Pages and it would be hugely compelling. That he happens to be both a subject matter expert and also a marvelous raconteur is just bonkers. Truly great material.

5 isn't enough stars

Fantastic production
Brady provides an amazing account of the Apollo 13 mission - the combination of the narration , recordings and music make this very special. I came away not only with an understanding of the technical issues but you get a real sense of the emotions the crew and ground support were going through. Irish storytelling at its best.

Love It!!
I discovered this podcast from FB. I’m no spring chicken. I lived during the actual mission. The fate of the crew wasn’t portrayed as being that big a deal when it happened. I thought it was a mission that got scrubbed because of an equipment failure and nothing more. It took years before I realized just how tenuous the struggle was. This podcast does a fantastic job of describing the action. As with any medium, a narrative is always better than the movie. The pictures are better.

Important New Perspectives
Many thanks to Brady for this detailed and fascinating podcast. As an engineer I have studied the history most the incidents he has discussed. Brady’s observations bring new and important perspectives to each story and the lessons we all must learn.
