I used to love this show and Lore, but the amount of annoying commercials has made me not want to listen anymore. Half the recording is commercials.

It’s a great podcast and me and my mom listen to it all the time. It’s my favorite podcast ever but I sometimes go nuts when adds come. It would but great if the adds were shorter. Other than that the podcast is perfect and it’s amazing! 👍

I love this podcast!! It’s so interesting to listen to. I cant remember which episode it was, but it was about this dog named Jim who saved his owner and another family from dying in their sleep from a gas leak. And at the end, when Jim died saving people yet again I actually choked up. I loved that story, Aaron, and it reminded me of my first dog who we had to put down. I don’t love the fact that there are a crazy amount of ads. 😭😭At least make it 1 Aaron Read ad instead of 5 loud, 25 sec ads. They are SO OBNOXIOUS!! I saw this suggestion on another persons rating, and I looked into it and it would be really cool if you did do Mike the Durable. I have been looking at other reviews, and I do agree that sometimes the ads do paint a picture of women being a lesser gender, and their skill being inadequate for many things. This I find disappointing and cruel, as women and men were created by God, and I believe he intended for men and women to be equals. If its and ad of Aaron reading off a card, or a company ad, its still disappointing.

I love this channel, but, what I don’t love is the insanely misogynistic intones in your newest ad/commercial release of which I have listened to many times before making my comment. It reads as, “The woman can’t budget because they have the weaker gender, but here’s an app to help them!” Do you really view women as mathematically inept or are you reading cards to get the bonus from companies that extort that? Either way, it’s a disappointment.

I LOVE ALL of the episodes! The BEST! I listen to this ALL the time! I would listen to this in the car almost EVERY DAY(besides listening to Taylor Swift) I could never say everything I like about this podcast! (The length is perfect!👌) but I do wish there weren’t any adds but that’s okay. How do you find all the back round knowledge for these episodes?

My kids and I have binged all of these episodes. They ask for it over a movie in the car!!

These stories are short and interesting. There are NOTHING like Aaron's other podcast "Lore". They tend to be more lighthearted and are about odd things from history instead of ghosts and monsters, although there are a few episodes. that touch on the supernatural.

I have listened to the whole series twice and find it just the right length to get my mind to relax and refocus. Love the short length, sometimes it’s just enough to fit in my busy schedule.

I have to agree with the others that are saying the new ads are obnoxious. On Piece of Mind the ad kicked in before the story was even over. I’ve listened for a long time and enjoy it so much, but the new ads are taking away from the special nature of this show.

Could you do a story on Mike the Durable (poison victim that eluded his killers for a while)?

This has been my favorite podcast for years and what got me into podcasts to begin with. I’ve always fallen asleep to the stories as they’re engaging enough to stop my mind from wandering but calming as well. The ads beginning the episodes now are loud and jarring as well as the ones throughout the episodes. I can longer relax to it and it’s sadly become unenjoyable. I don’t ever write reviews but am saddened by this change and hoping my reflection as well as the others I’ve read may change something. I understand the ads help to pay to keep the podcast going but maybe there is another way to incorporate the sponsors. I hope this podcast can return to what it used to be so I can enjoy it again ♥️

I used to like the content but the ads got to be too much. I’d almost be ok with it if Aaron was still reading them but the show is a least 1/3 loud ads instead of 1 Aaron-read one like the old days

Use to love your content till you started putting little woke comments and digs through out your podcast and making fun of white people. You know racism is racism regardless of color, last time I checked Aaron you’re white. I understand that history is fully of people doing bad things but what good does it do to keep fanning the fire of division.

This podcast is interesting and I used to love listening to it (been a subscriber for years), but these ads are too much. I can’t believe you can cram so many heinous ads into one 10 minute episode. They’re so loud they blast my ears to pieces every time they cut in, I can’t pick up my phone fast enough to skip them before the blood starts running down my cheeks. Not to mention they’re for the absolute worst companies. I’d take an ad for square space or hello fresh read by the host any day over these insane truck commercials. Grim and mild must really be hurting for money to have to make us endure this relentless advertising.

Interesting content, but got tired of the overt political undertones. I initially followed this podcast to get a break from politics, music, and culture. I unfollowed it as it has become all about the latest social/political buzzthing. Stick to telling interesting historical stories, and stay out of all the social/political ‘issue the day’.

I am usually a big fan of the show, but I was disgusted by the blatantly racist remark made on the “Dish it out” episode.

Latest episode said something along the lines of “she wasn’t just the first person to do so, but the first woman”. What an asinine thing to say. Are you implying woman aren’t people? Is it really so shocking to your misogynistic mind that a woman could do something first that you literally have to call it out like “A WOMAN DID THAT?!”? Actually disgusted. Been listening since the start and I’ve put up with the ridiculous amount of ads and the self important “and IM Aaron Mahnke” introduction like anyone actually knows who you are outside these podcasts, but I will not be listening to anything else by you, you misogynist.

The ads are just too much, but I love the show.

I love the actual content of the show, but it’s a bit much to have 4 minutes of ads for 8 minutes of content. At least go back to the ads that Aaron recorded so it’s not a blaring contrast of some other ad yelling in the middle of the episode.

There were 6 ads on a 10 minute podcast. I used to listen daily to cabinet of curiosities but started listening to other podcasts. I came back and the amount of ads have increased to a point that is insane. I get Aaron wants his money but this is ridiculous.

Do you have any idea how many doodles are in shelters and doodle rescue past capacity, any you advertise for doodle puppies? Absolutely disgusting. Way to alienate all the animal advocates and vets who are beyond sick of dealing with doodle behavioral issues. They are just designer mutts with endless issues. Adopt, dont shop.

Interesting content but I cannot stand the style of the ads. Really interrupts the flow and enjoyment of the podcast.

I can’t remember when I stumbled upon this podcast. It was a few years ago at least but I’m glad I did. Aaron Mahnke is a fantastic storyteller and the content is excellent. I have suggested this podcast to several friends and family searching for something to listen to. To my knowledge no one has been disappointed. Through this show I have also discovered other excellent podcasts produced by Aaron Mahnke such as Noble Blood, Lore and Grim & Mild presents. Give any of these a listen. I doubt you’ll be disappointed.

I love this show and I love all of Aaron’s shows. They are always thoughtfully researched, told so well, and pique my interest. Recently, the show has had an outside company advertising adoptions with a less than subtle pro-life propaganda agenda. I don’t believe this is Aaron’s opinion but I don’t love it. I listen to this show to escape from the horrors of the US politicians’ daily push to strip its citizens of human rights and this particular advertisement really rubs me the wrong way. I know this isn’t likely Aaron’s choice but a choice of the podcast network he is on, so to the podcast network: cut it out guys and find another company to advertise with or lose listeners.

I adore this series! Each episode is about 10 minutes and has two fascinating stories. I *highly* recommend it for anyone who loves obscure history or trivia. Even if you have a passing interest, I’d still recommend it since it’s just 10 minutes twice a week, so it’s not like it’s a huge time investment. Part of the fun for me is when it tells a story of some famous person, but doesn’t use their more well-known name. So I like to try to guess who it is before it’s revealed. And I just *have* to comment after the episode “Remember Me”. I never knew that story about the roses & it’s the first time I actually got a little choked up listening to this podcast. And the story of Yamaguchi is just incredible. And finally, hi, Aaron. I also listen to Lore & you always say you like it when people say hi. :)

It has apparently never occurred to him that half his audience might disagree with his politics. I’m sad to unsubscribe but there are other, smarter podcast hosts who tell the story without the bias.

I got enough commie propaganda in the USSR, don’t want any more of it ever. Ugh.

I have just recent began watching this and am currently around episode 20 and in the past few episodes there have been ads for the same product and I personally don’t mind that things like this have ads because it’s free and very entertaining but when the ad is always for the same thing the repitician can become very annoying.

I used to love this podcast and never minded the commercials when you did them. I absolutely HATE the way you’re playing regular commercials now. Ruins the whole flow and vibe of the cast. I’m so sad 😔

Every Tuesday and Thursday morning I get up and after my morning routine, I go straight to the show It is quite fascinating and I love to be entertained by stuff I didn’t know.

As soon as I found out that this is the bottom feeding virtue signaling poor soul that tried to destroy mike boude I deleted anything on my devices having anything to do with him or his company’s. Friends and family are doing the same

I love this pod cast so much. In the last 2 weeks I’ve binged all most all (I have 8 more) of the 400+ episodes! Keep it up. Lore is great too. I’ve listened to all of them and watched the tv shows too.

If you like someone’s super left leaning political OPINION, and everyone else is uneducated and naive, then this podcast is for you. Aaron used to just tell the story without bias opinions, but not anymore. He “imagines” and “thinks” a lot. It’s really political and it becomes not factual when he assumes key points in a historical story. Just tell the story!

This is so funny, I have been struck by lightning back in 2012 in the Eastern DR Congo. This is a common occurrence during the rainy season. Some people believe it’s because of copper and other minerals.

Need the short ones sometimes! Another winner.
